Can Kareena Kapoor's Heroine beat Vidya Balan's Kahaani?

Vidya-Bebo After an age-long rule of the male stars in Bollywood, the current woman-centric scripts have paved a way to the actresses to play central characters in films. The current scenario is such that the actresses are at par with each other with the power of such challenging movies.

Vidya Balan's back to back success The Dirty Picture and Kahaani might face a threat from Kareena Kapoor's upcoming Heroine, since all these movies are based on female-centric themes. Vidya who was basking in The Dirty Picture's success, has yet again won herself acclodes for Kahaani, where she herself plays the hero of the movie.

But reports say that Bhandarkar's Heroine is one of the finest female centric scripts Bollywood has ever seen. In fact the filmmaker has even promised that the world will see Kareena as never before. While Vidya's performance is being talked about so much for Kahaani, Bebo's glamorous avatar is such that there would be fireworks all over again with Heroine.

Both the stories are based on different story lines, while a pregnant Vidya runs for her missing husband, Mahie Khanna (Kareena) in Heroine traces the meteoric rise and tragic downfall of the fictitious actress.

Witnessing National Award winning Bhandarkar's confidence, filmmakers Sujoy Ghosh and Milan Luthria are possibly facing a tough time in accepting Heroine's upcoming surprise.

Abhishek’s Players collects Rs 21.75 crs at Box Office in first week

Abhishek Bachchan starrer movie Players, which opened to a colossal disappointment at the Box Office in India, has earned Rs 21.75 crores net at the collection centres in the first week. With this, the multi-starrer film has posed a threat of suffering heavy losses to the producer.

The big budget movie Players, which was expected to debut with a huge collection at the Box Office, registered 20% to 30% occupancy on the opening day. The film earned Rs 15 crores net in the first weekend. Its business fell sharply on weekdays and it added another Rs 6.75 crores net to its total gross Rs 21.75 crores net.

However, Players, which is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Burmawala Bros, had created lot of curiosity among the movie buffs before its release. But the film has been rejected outright. Since there are no big releases this week, it should be seen whether the movie will recover its loss at the Box Office or not.

Box Office Update: Chaalis Chauraasi, Sadda Adda, Ghost, Tutiya Dil

The movie No One Killed Jessica had started the year 2011 with a bang, but the year 2012 has a bad beginning with the first release of the year, Players getting poor response at the Box Office. The low response continues in the second week with the new releases like Chaalis Chauraasi, Sadda Adda, The Ghost and Tutiya Dil.

Chaalis Chauraasi, Sadda Adda, The Ghost and Tutiya Dil are all medium budget movies. Chaalis Chauraasi and The Ghost boast of big star cast, while Sadda Adda and Tutiya Dil have all newcomers. But irrespective of any reason, all of them have opened to a poor response at the Box office. They have registered a very low amount of occupancy in theatres across the country.

However, this weak response for movies is expected to continue in the third week of the year too as there are no big releases. But Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath, which is slated to release on 26th January, is expected to make it big at Box Office.

Rani Mukherjee drops the idea of marrying Aditya Chopra

Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra, who never admitted their relationship in public were spotted together at the Mumbai airport, along with Aditya's family. They were returning after celebrating the New Year abroad.

The media couldn't get enough when they spotted Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee walk out of the airport. The two were returning after celebrating the New Year in London or USA. The duo were accompanied by Aditya Chopra's family.

Aditya Chopra, who is usually reclusive and hates to be photographed did not shy away this time when the media began taking pictures of him along with Rani.

Though Rani and Aditya have been rumoured to be dating for a long time, they never accepted that in public. The buzz earlier was that Aditya Chopra couldn't marry Rani since he couldn't get divorce from his ex-wife, who was asking for a huge sum of money as alimony.

However, by showing up together, Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee seem to be hinting that they will surely tie the knot. The two are likely to get married soon...may be in 2012 itself!
